Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a chronic, debilitating, anxiety-related condition that can affect a person’s way of life. People with OCD experience frequent intrusive thoughts or obsessions that often result in uncontrollable behavior or compulsions. Research shows that over 90% of people suffering from OCD may also have other mental conditions such as; eating disorders, depression, phobias, and substance abuse. Furthermore, 63% of people with OCD also have a mood disorder. The gold standard in treating OCD is Exposure and Ritual/Response Prevention (ERP). ERP is known to give better and longer-lasting results than medication alone. People with OCD and other comorbidities require specialized treatment from trained professionals to improve their way of life.
